This is happening a lot faster than I thought it would. I got a phone call yesterday from our social worker asking if I wanted to look at the homestudy before she sent copies to our placing agency. My response? "Um, uh, I don't really need to." I was not expecting a call like that so soon! I thought I had a couple weeks before the real stuff started. Now, I feel like I am on the fast track to get our documents done. Yesterday was just the beginning. Mr. Man and I went to the bank and got 11 (yes, that is ELEVEN) forms notarized. I got our state background check requests sent out. I tried to schedule fingerprints for our FBI background checks but sadly, their computer system was down and I had to wait to call today.
So, the first thing I did this morning was to call the police station and get appointments for us to get fingerprints done. This seems to be a busy time of year for fingerprints because they couldn't get us in until July 1st. I am thankful that, according to the FBI site, they are averaging only about 28 days for background checks right now. I am still trying to figure out what to do about having a local police background check done. We live in a tiny town that does not have a local police force. Our taxes (for police services) are paid directly to the state police office and the state cops are the ones that provide services if we need them. So, our local police is the state police and the state police background check would be the same as the state background check....UGH! The next town over didn't seem to have any idea what I needed (and the woman who answered said she wasn't sure she could do anything for us since we don't live in their town). I will figure this out!!
